it's all worth the fight when it's you, dear.
“Molly, I know you’re there.”
Silence on the other side of the door. Nothing more than he’d expected.
“Open the door. Please.”
A muffled sob. He can almost picture it – one hand over her mouth, shoulders pressed against the door, smudged makeup and wrinkled wedding dress-
His hand balls into a fist against the wooden door.
“Molly, please.”
“Let me in.”
“Please, just open the door and let me talk to you.”
“Molly-“
The lock clicks and the door opens a fraction. He straightens out his suit and pauses for a few seconds before slowly stepping into the room and closing the door behind him.
She’s standing in the middle of the floor, looking at her reflection in the full length mirror. He takes a step back, almost left speechless as how lovely she looks in the dress. There’s a twisting sensation in his gut, an emotion he can’t bring himself to ignore.
“You don’t have to do this.” His voice is hoarse, and so is hers when she finally speaks.
“We both know I do.”
“No. You don’t. Nobody would blame you if you called it off.”
“I would blame me. I would hate myself. I can’t do it, Sherlock, not to that wonderful man-“
“If he’s as wonderful as you say, then he can forgive you.”
She turns to face him, dark eyes full of tears.
“Being forgiven doesn’t make me any less of a bad person.”
He steps forward, as close as their bodies can possibly get without touching, and takes her hand in his. The other cups her cheek gently as he presses his lips to her forehead.
“You are many things, Molly Hooper, but never a bad person.”
